Hannah Reed, MS, LPC, RPT

Hannah, therapist at Willow & Moss Counseling, smiling warmly in a professional setting, offering trauma therapy with a compassionate and client-centered approach.

I’m so glad you’re here.

I love this work. Being a therapist feels deeply meaningful to me—I genuinely enjoy getting to know people, understanding their stories, and watching things start to shift as they reconnect with themselves.

People often ask why someone becomes a therapist. My answer? I was an anxious kid—like, really anxious. My mental health was shaped early by the environment I grew up in, and therapy showed up in my life when I was young (and stuck around for years).

Shout out to Miss Nancy, who patiently played pick-up sticks on the floor with me when I didn’t have the words. That experience led me to pursue learning play therapy—because kids don’t speak in CBT worksheets, they speak play. And when they’re given space, they do the work. Kids are wired for healing. Kids are magic.

Therapy has been part of my life since I was young, so I know firsthand how different it feels at different ages. That’s why I work with kids, teens, and adults. No matter your age, I want therapy to feel collaborative—like we’re figuring things out together. You’re the expert on your life; I’m here to support the process.

When I work with kids, I consider the full picture—family, school, community. I love helping parents better understand and connect with their children. It’s not just about supporting the child; it’s about supporting the system around them, too.

Teens need honesty and authenticity. They’re navigating real, foundational stuff, not just “teen drama.” Therapy with teens often mixes conversation with creative or experiential approaches that feel relevant and real.

With adults, the work is about unpacking what shaped you—trauma, life challenges, or just the weight of being human. Growth might not always be dramatic, but it’s meaningful. Being part of that process is a privilege.

I’m a Registered Play Therapist, EMDR certified and a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. I’ve worked hard to gather knowledge and approaches that help people get unstuck. Talking alone can only take you so far—modalities like Play Therapy and EMDR help us reach the deeper layers where lasting change happens. Therapy should feel like it’s moving you forward, and it’s my job to make sure that happens in a way that works for you.

Therapy isn’t magic—but it is powerful. I’d be honored to be with you as you go through the process.

My Educational and Professional Background:

My winding path to becoming a therapist started with a degree in Visual Arts and a minor in Psychology (I had plans to be an art therapist, but time makes fools of us all). Before grad school, I worked as an Advocate for The Partnership Against Domestic Violence, where I witnessed firsthand the power of support and resilience.

I hold a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and completed my internship in the Behavioral Health Unit at one of Emory Hospital’s locations. Since then, I’ve worked in private practice with clients of all ages, specializing in trauma—including childhood trauma, CPTSD, and PTSD—along with anxiety, depression, child therapy, and family transitions. My work focuses on helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with support tailored to their unique needs.

My approach is down-to-earth, collaborative, and tailored to each person—because healing looks different for everyone.

Get to know me!

I'm an introvert who’s happiest at home, usually working on something creative—miniatures, painting, crochet, drawing, knitting… it changes by the week. I’m a collector of skills, and once I’m into something, I need to figure it out and get it right. Creating is how I process and care for myself—it’s grounding, satisfying, and just a little obsessive.

had the privilege of being raised by a mother who was, and still is, a teacher who deeply believes that learning flourishes through creativity and play. She has always been an inspiration. I also inherited a love of books from her—I’ll devour paperbacks or audiobooks alike, especially when I can pair them with a creative project.

I keep a tight inner circle and care deeply about my people. One of my favorite places to be is my screened-in porch—outside without the mosquitos. And green is my favorite color, which will be blatantly obvious to anyone who’s seen my stuff.

I rely on humor—dry, dark, timing-dependent—as a way to hold space for the hard things without getting swallowed by them.
